Some very interesting insider trading updates for this week. Ford Motor Corp, Bank of New York Mellon, and Owens Illinois all saw some significant insider buying.

Insider Trading Buy Transactions – F
William Clay Ford Jr. himself bought $250,000 of Ford Stock. He’s the executive chairman. In addition to that insider buy, Ford Corp Director Anthony Earley Jr. spent the same amount.
Let’s look at F stock.
The stock chart does not really incline me to be interested in F for growth, but the fundamentals are quite attractive. The price to sales ratio is only 0.30. That’s really low. The forward PE ratio is also low at 5.52. It appears to me that these insiders felt that it’s a good time in the long term picture to accumulate stock. Perhaps they suspect better news for Ford on the horizon.
F offers no dividend at this time.

Insider Trading Buy Transaction – BK
Wesley W Von Schack, a director for the Bank of New York Mellon (BK), bought ~$200,000 of BK stock last week.
BK looks reasonably valued, with a price to sales ratio of 1.68 and a forward looking PE of 7.9. BK has low debt and a ton of extra cash on hand. Analysts expect some growth next year, but no earnings growth on average for the next 5 years.BK stock does pay a dividend that yields 2.6%.
Just Like Ford, on a technical level, the stock chart does not look so attractive to me.

Insider Trading Buy Transaction – OI
While not much different than F or BK, Owens Illinois has a more significant insider purchase size. Albert P L Stroucken, the board chair and CEO of OI, bought $2,000,000 of his own stock.
OI pays no dividend, but has very attractive valuation with a price to sales ratio of 0.40 and a forward PE of 5.78. Another thing that I like about is the revenue and earnings growth. Not that it is that great, but at least analysts expect them to have some. I think maybe Mr. Stroucken expects this too.
The price chart of OI, like many charts right now, does not look like a great buy to me right here, to be honest. I hesitate to buy stocks that are in down trends unless I am accumulating long term savings, for example.
